Frost’s Descent
Introduction to Frost's Descent
Frost's Descent is the eighteenth solar term in the twenty-four solar terms and the last solar term in autumn. Frost's Descent occurs when the sun reaches 210 degrees of the ecliptic longitude on October 23 or 24 of the Gregorian calendar. The name of Frost's Descent comes from the natural phenomenon at that time, that is, when the temperature at night is below 0 degrees Celsius, the water vapor in the air will condense into Frost's Descent flowers, forming a thin layer of white ice crystals.
